From Monday 14 December 2020 Caranua will not make any further funding support payments

Dear Survivors,

From Monday 14 December 2020, Caranua will not make any further funding support payments to the survivors of institutional abuse.

Caranua started accepting applications in January 2014. Since then, Caranua has received applications from 6,661 individuals, of these 6,181 were survivors who were eligible to apply for funding supports. By 30 November 2020, Caranua has provided €97,080,388 in funding supports to survivors.

Whilst Caranua announced its plans for closure in May 2018, we know that some survivors contact Caranua for things not related to funding supports, as part of the wind-down plan we will offer a limited phone service between 10-12 am and 2-4 pm until December 23rd 2020 to continue to signpost survivors to other services where they can receive support.

Thank you to the survivors who put their trust in Caranua. I have had the privilege to meet with some of you over the years and many of you have taken the time to contact me sharing your life stories and experiences, it has been an honour.

Regards,

Rachel Downes, CEO
